  • Cheap carbon tubs from China then.

  • Joke ^.

  • You rang?

  • Lolathon

  • I've just taken my Chirbon tubs off the bike after 342 highly enjoyable miles, now got front winter wheel and rear Sigma Sports loaner PowerTap wheel on.

Prediction= I will produce less power than I want to*.

*At first, then let the gym OCD kick in

  • My new bike

I have enough pieces but still I lack some...

    No fork?

I like the look of these. Let us know how it rides.

  • Not commuting, that I'll always do fixed. It'd be longer rides/training/sportives I guess.

Aren't the stock wheels ok for this?

  • Ridley Oval, nearly complete.
Along with a Cinelli Proxima project.

Not sure whether to keep the stickers on the rims, or peel'em.
Tires are gonna be Rubino 20c slicks, at least in the front (forks doesn't allow bigger tires).
3T riserbar in the city, needs to be cut (lower left corner, first pic.), dropbars for longer rides.
Haven't decided on saddle yet, would love your input! Thinking SLR or flite, or something alike.

PEEL PEEL PEEL!! I've had 2 sets of Navigators now and peeled the stickers off both.
Doesn't take long, plus the font is ugly as hell and without them they will make the bike look cleaner.

  • I just found a flippin lovely frame for my mrs or my lad when he's older... just can't decide whether to nab it or not... 953 BJ roadbike in size: Tiny...

  • is it that blue one?

  • yep, it's fuckin ace, no?

  • yeah its amazing, and you will be waiting a long time to see a 953 that nice in that size again. i say get it

  • Mavic Askium or Shimano R500 RS30.

    RS30 are worth the extra.
Or split the difference and get the WH-R501-30
    http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/Shimano-R501-30mm-Bladed-Clincher-Wheels-Pair/SHIMWHFR204
Which mates the RS30 rim to the cheap R500 hubs with bladed, but still conventional J-bend, spokes

  • any recommendations for a new wheelset that doesn't cost the Earth would be good.

But something which doesn't cost the earth won't actually be a worthwhile upgrade from the stock wheels. Keep hold of your money until you can afford some really good 'Sunday best' wheels

  • No fork?

Yes, have a carbon fork (in white)

I'm waiting for the rear wheel, pedals and double straps (already i have the rest)...then i will start mounting the bike

  • then i will start mounting the bike

^ this i have no desire to see.

    Why? dnt like it? :)

not quite what i was getting at!

That the compact one of retrobike? So hot. Been trying to persuade any of my little legged friends to get it.

  • Just let Saadat choose his own bikes.

  • Just let Saadat choose his own bikes.

Ha, it was actually for JD, but he wasn't interested as it was on 700s...

  • Just bought my first geared bike :s

I'm sure this has been discussed a 1000 times, but any recommendations for a new wheelset that doesn't cost the Earth would be good.

    Probably this.

My Giant came with DT Swiss R1900, which the reviews suggest are heavy and underspec'd for the bike. So I planned to replace them.

After riding them, they're fine. I might change them in spring for something lighter, like the Stan's smallfurry posted. But really now is not the time to be upgrading road bikes.

  • I have those forks on my MTB, they're very light & very affordable.
You can get them over at carboncycles.cc

  • You can get them over at carboncycles.cc

Good find, full range of axle-crown lengths and 1" options. Could be a saviour for many old MTB conversions.

  • finished this one for winter
