Hi all,
I've recently built up a cheap geared bike from parts off this forum and ebay. Had originally planned to make it SS but frame isn't really suitable. I've been riding it for a few weeks but it needs some fine tuning that's beyond me and I don't really have the tools. Anyone here up for helping out, I can of course pay you.
What it needs:
- Back wheel is pretty wonky, so needs truing......front seems ok, but worth checking.
- Gears are just about indexed but need fine tuning.
- General once over/service
I'm based in Clapton
Thanks

@ raoot666 - you're too far south for me, but I'd recommend having a search on youtube and in the sticky with recommended sites to learn how to true you wheel yourself.
It really isn't as hard as you think. Just buy a multi spoke key / tool like one of these:
A spoke and a nipple is just like a nut and bolt, all you're doing is tightening or loosing it. You can do it a using your frame. So just have a crack yourself.
@ insysion - if you've got nothing useful to say, why bother saying anything?

Be careful, tried this once, made it worse, bought a new rear wheel...
Not trying to put you off, just make sure you make very very small turns on each spoke. Hope it goes better for you.

Thanks Seamus, i'll be super carefull.
Also got a weird creak coming from the cranks I need to sort out.......just hope it's not the frame!! (But then it was cheap and has been fun learning how to put it all together).

Did you put in a new BB? Mate of min had the same, took out the BB, reinstalled and sorted it out.

^ check your chainring bolts first, nearly always them causing creaks

^this and/or crank bolts.

Did u grease the pedals before screwing them into the cranks?

Thanks for the tips folks - the BB and chainset actually came with the frame when I bought it. Reckon i'll strip it down, regrease and rebuild. Recently changed the pedals and greased before, so probably something else.

Hello
I have some wheels that I got from ebay... they're rather wobbly, with some very loose spokes, and need to be trued.
I have PM'd 5 or 6 people from searching previous threads about wheel truing but haven't had a reply from anyone apart from one chap who is no longer in London.
So, can anyone help me out and do some wheel truing please?
many thanks
Dunc.
(if this should be posted in a different section, let me know.)

How about your lbs?

I could have a look. Whether they can be sorted depends on the state they're in, and without seeing them you can't say. In Battersea/Clapham area if it's useful.
