  • ^^^Fox suggested the creation of the cheese of speed for fastest fixed while FixedCheese occupied the role. I then selfishly took it for myself. I just wanted to make a mini-spok which is why it's there, but stonehedge'll be getting it too after his run this week.
    short answer: yes.

  • It'll be mine again one day!

    ...one day...

  • im gonna take the spok out on the road bike at some point soon.....
6pt can i grab that garmin at some point?

  • Did Tom create 2 separate awards and then award the to himself?

Yes. Well done to Tom. He should also put in for the fastest Tom (fixed) and fastest Tom (geared).

  • Almost finalised the purchase of some kind of geared bike, so should hopefully get a geared time in at some point before the Winter sets in...

  • I know this will sound like i'm just bitter that other people are faster than me, but i don't like the ranking table: I feel the challenge should be pass/fail, and once you've passed you should stop using RP as a test of your speed - go do some proper time trials or something.

I agree it would be lovely if we could have the road to ourselves and go as fast as we liked, but that's just utterly selfish. Even the cut-through motor traffic must be getting something out of the experience that i can't see a strong argument for denying. (I assume the speed limit cuts out most a-to-b-as-fast-as-possible traffic).

  • John, my friend did the anti clockwise in 1:04:00 on a 20" wheels hybrid with 10 speed.

Will post his Garmin result when he give me the link.

Now THAT one I'm going to have to see to believe...
I'll be very impressed if he really did that

  • Oh he did, he done 19mph average too, I seen his result at work online.

  • Your friend John is making us all look bad and making some of us look worse than we already did.

  • Does he get the trispoke of regret for inappropriate wheels choice?

I did this last weekend and was in around 1.06. I M? Going back soon to time it properly

  • garmin in a car?
how fast would he be on his unicyle?

  • Not very, maxed out at 7mph.

  • how long until Leo sets the RP laps challenge on a boris bike?

  • garmin in a car?
how fast would he be on his unicyle?

Sorry but still don't believe that....
19mph on a 20" hybrid in the kind of low temperatures and wind we've been having. I'd literally have to be there watching the whole thing, in a car to believe it

  • a distinct lack of faith! I thought it entirely doable.

  • Garmin, Strava... balls to the lot of it. Far too easy to go round in a car/motorbike/ped and record whatever lap 'record' you want.
Think the future is all about people going in pairs and doing the good old stopwatch timing from the Café

  • ^HR and Cadence data provide some veracity, no? I think you've been pondering too hard on how to improve your lap times ;)

  • timing from the cafe? i could cheat and cut across the park

  • all i don't understand is the elevation profile for the last 1/3

Andy - coming from the man with no data to back up his lap time, pot kettle...
