We did have a good ride last week- perfect weather, good roads & company, but in the end there were only three of us( the third rider was Illy, who had travelled from Herne Hill to join us), plus a large number of apologies for absence.
We did a loop of just over 40 miles, which included the climbs of Northchurch Common and Ivinghoe Beacon, plus a number of other smaller climbs, so I think we all (even Illy) had a fair work out.
I was slightly concerned that Kat might have struggled with the Beacon since she was on a 72" gear and had weighed herself down with a saddlebag, but she was still smiling at the top.
I still think these rides are a worthwhile idea, even though I'm a bit disappointed by the actual level of support. I'm going to have at least one more try, so:
