Going from a 46cm to these 38cm
From one extreme to the other.

looks ace! so true on slimmer bars, mine are 38cm. I don't get why some people like massive drops, unless you are massive and your bike is massive.

Ill advised?

If you like it, it's right. Just quite bold to go all the way in one step.

I've been the same with my haircuts if truth be told, no one's remembered for being mediocre... Well bar Joe Bloggs and John Doe.

my bike as it normally stands on its deepV/goldtechs :)

so nearly there. just need to replace fizik antares test saddle with nice black and white one. There's something very special about a bike that outspecs and outperforms anything you ever owned.
wanted to sort saddle and get down to richmond today but had the fucking plumbers in since 8am...

Love that, the thomson, turbo and 3ttt pro chrome look all kinds of awesome together.
With the chainset too, there's no consistency between the components but together they just look mint. -

Still got a couple of little bits to do (brown Brooks saddle and tape, Feather stem), ignore the pedals, but it's getting there.
Where machine shop?

Well, here it is now completed and photographed from the right side! Thanks to Pistoffski who sold me the Nitto CroMo stem and CroMo B123 bars which look so much better and are very good to ride on too!
I really love this bike and would post in the porn thread, but I don't want to get bollocked for posting my own bike there!
I'm really pleased I did this and took the time to experiment and get it right :-)
Thanks to all who gave me advice about bars etc...

Really pretty, that stem/bar combo looks exactly good and right.
Don't those geraniums bug your thighs? -
• #52338
Thanks - the geraniums do a good job of brushing away the sweat from my inner thighs though - everyone should try them!!

ive some 35c tyres going on an old 27" 1950's road bike frame so not too worried tyre wise.
looking at mudguards, is 52mm enormous looking? is there much difference visually from the 45mm velo oranges?
Went for a set of these, 52mm velo orange zeppelins. £46 posted from freshtripe. Its gonna be set up as a town style bike rather than a racer so think these will look better :)

when did this place turn into a "you-must-have-front-brake-to-ride-fixed-on-the-street" all of a sudden?..
-
• #52347
So, here we go again.
I'd really like to build this up quickly and just have it as my daily ride but to save upsetting anyone and of course, to do the frame justice, I'm going to try and make it as porny as poss'.. -

Columbus loves Campagnolo.
Got new bars fitted (3ttt Ergo Power TDF) and they feel great, went for a 70 mile maiden voyage and couldn't fault them (my legs were a different story).
Going from a 46cm to these 38cm in width I don't feel like I'm piloting a juggernaut anymore, so much nicer. Was never a fan of shallower bars until I rode them,
in fact I'm changing my track set-up from sprinters bars to a compact. #oldmanattheageof22
