  • Resurrecting [cough] this slightly old news If speeding is dangerous why do the police follow someone doing 100mph for five miles before pulling them?

    At 100 mph that's only about 3 minutes isn't it? The driver would have to reach the same speed, pull alongside, or stay close behind them and communicate to the speeding driver that they should pull over. And do all that without causing any extra danger to anyone else on the road. Seems a reasonable amount of time to me.
