I can't think of many things that can't be done with one hand (a fact polo players should probably be thankfully for... I don't think double levers were originally made for polo!)
Which would be worse, having your hand cut off and seeing someone else being castrated or vice versa?
I think I've read something about high levels of depression amongst castrati, but I guess that's not compared with people missing hands..
