Obviously the corolurary of what John is saying is that if you want a long mallet (and are therefore limited in how much you can cut) you need a bolt of a certain length.

Extra, thanks for the offer, but Jo's kinda on my way home, slightly more than newt... Also save them for beginners, I'm sure someone will need them.
