tubeless is fantastic for mtb, they should be able to get it to work if the tyre/rim combo is right, i wouldn't entertain any rimstrip though and only stans rims as they are the best tubeless rims.
another year or 2 of development should see them even more reliable, a friend rolled a tub at ally pally this weekend no tyre system is perfect.
