^^ You don't know how hard I resisted making that joke. I also resisted pointing out that laner is clearly checking out his arse in that photo.
All the staff seemed to be mini too, a guard or driver on the RH&D could be an option if job opportunities aren't forthcoming ;)
Hopefully you'll be able to make the Sizewell ride Dan. Sizewell B looks awesome, like a giant golf ball.

Shame I couldn't join you guys.
I went for a jog around Leiston and Sizewell B this evening...the coast is lovely round here.
Lovely part of the coast around there.
When I cycled around the East this summer we had dinner in Leiston (fish and chips) and could see sizewell b from there.

When I originally planned the Bradwell-on-Sea ride I was going to make it a series of rides to nuclear power stations called "(Watt) Hour(s) of Power", or something cheesy like that. The thinking behind it was that nuclear power stations tend to be in bleak places, away from population centres, and by the sea. And I like riding to those kind of places....
A power station ride sounds a great idea Fox, nuclear and others. They are quite atmospheric places. I'd be well up for this and would help organise if you were still up for this after your 'recce'
(I was at kingsnorth recently. Their security staff patrol on bikes ) -

To Slough/Windsor and back (26miles one way)
Quiet roads and very doable fixed. Also a nice and rolling start to any ride that involves going deeper into the Chilterns on a geared bike
Involves crossing the A4 twice but apart from that nice quiet and enjoyable. Pretty flat.

I did my first audax on Saturday. 200k from Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. With gears.
Being the longest ride I've done this year (and something of an experiment) we took it really slow, probably averaging 15 mph for most of it and slowly wound it up as time when on. I got really apprehensive on friday, so was running on only 1 hours sleep!
Despite a bit of tiredness the windy 140 miles (door to door) were surprisingly comfortable. I ate heaps of food and kept my bottle refilled which I'm sure was crucial. We had a chat on the bike with a fella who'd recently ridden a 1200k event in Bulgaria!

Had a great ride last night.
Headed out around 8:30pm, in the pitch black with just a magic-shine light to guide me. Took a narrow lane around the back end of a local lake. The lane is winding and lumpy. Not really what you should be riding fixed, at speed, on skinny tyres. But is was great fun, reacting to the late info from my light. Scared I'd feck up and end-up in the lake, or that I'd bump into a hungry gang of zombies.

I have no words. I've never done any riding like that before. It was amazing. Though Exmoor has broken me. That downhill at the end though; best thing in the world. I actually contemplated riding up again so I could do it again.
Dartmoor the day before was incredible too. Want to go again.

Some serious miles there^
Beautiful areas though.

Just shy of 10 miles in the forest with Nancy today.
'Twas a great day, fears were conquered. -

Ugh...Jeebus what a fun ride! I don't mind admitting that it damn near killed me though. London to Cambridge fixed with Laner and Katie-Coo. 17.4mph moving speed. 17.1 overall (only piss stops and one for cramp). I suffered big time because I was on 48x19 and I'm not a natural spinner.
Strong riding from Laner and Katie. Well chuffed, but I'm a shadow of the man that I was this morning.

I rode 2 miles to a bakery, slowly. But left it so late there was no bread. Grabbed a scotch egg instead, rolled home. Now ridden to Sidcup for a roast dinner. My miles are purely food-motivated today.

^^^ Did 70 miles at 15.9 rolling average at the weekend and it damn nearly finished me. My only excuse is a month or so off the weekend trundles. And look at you, you bastards... notching rides like that up fixed. I feel old and tired. Old and tired I tells ya!
Shame I couldn't join you guys.
