As Wicksie says, people should try to discourage massive swings, but I know I was / am guilty of it when I am in the middle of a game, and amped up, it just happens. I think a face cage is a good idea.
But even just a normal helmet is worth putting on your head. Any other injuries tend to heal up alright, a brain injury is different and a lot more serious...
