^Sounds like you regret doing that.
I unusually lost my rag with a driver tailgating and hooting me around Newington Green roundabout. Swore at him which I don't usually do then saw he had his kid in the car. Didn't feel good about that. While I think the huge increase in cycling is taming drivers in London significantly the idiots stand out even more. -

Turning round to see she was on her phone nearly made me lose it; in this case there being 7 kids in front of me made me bite my tongue. But a gesture to the woman did get her to pull over and stop.

on the subject of black cabs, witnessed one recently driving in an aggressive and bullying manner and immediately knew something was up. He proceeded to drive the wrong way around a roundabout before coming to a screeching halt behind a car that was waiting at a zebra crossing for some peds, then started beeping his horn and flashing his lights. But, of course, it's all ok cause cabbies are exemplary professional drivers and an invaluable asset to London.

I'm new here but one of the reasons I found the forum was searching on Google for bad driving from Addison Lee. I was nearly run off the road (and was actually in a cycle lane at the time) by some horrendous driving by one of their drivers. As I swerved out of the lane I looked back at the guy who was leaning on his horn and watched him drive past me on his phone!
I caught up with him, although wasn't chasing him, and knocked on his window to ask what the hell he thought he was doing although that's not something I'd usually do. Must have been a bit in shock as I noticed I was knocking so hard on his window it was bending inwards. He jumped in his seat and started shouting at me but still had his phone in his hand!
I've decided to start tweeting each instance of Addison Lee's bad driving but they're, obviously, ignoring me at the moment.
Have also reported a bus driver for totally ridiculous driving (although I was just a witness to this, but he nearly took out two motorcyclists) and I got a decent reply back from the company and the police's safer driving scheme thanking me for bringing it to their attention.
I cycle each day around central London on my commute and have been nearly hit by a bus and actually hit by two black cabs and a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist decided to do an unbelievable manoeuvre and undertook me on the inside in a gap of only a couple of feet. He whacked into me and I just managed not to fall off my bicycle. When I caught up with him at the junction he was stopped at he claimed I was 'all over the road' which was just complete rubbish. I reminded him that he screamed past me from behind and drove into me and to be fair he did say sorry.

If anybody is interested, this is the bus complaint I made:
*I wish to make a formal complaint regarding the driver of the 134 service to Archway, index LK58 COU. The driver was a male with shaved head wearing a light blue short-sleeved shirt.
This afternoon at approximately 14:29 I was on my pedal cycle stopped at the ATS at the intersection of the A401 near the junction of the A40 / A401 in central London. I was to the left of the middle lane and stopped behind two motorcyclists. The 134 service bus was in the right-hand lane. The traffic lights were on red although I could hear the excessively-loud revving of the bus engine, so much so that the bus was even being lifted up and down on its parking brake as the driver revved hard. Looking through the lower deck windows, it looked like the bus was empty and had no passengers on-board, although I couldn't see the upper deck. The movement of the bus up and down as the driver revved against the parking brake seemed such that passengers would have had an issue with this. As soon as the lights changed, the motorcyclists pulled away at a reasonable speed for the type of vehicle but the bus, revving extremely hard, accelerated away from the lights in what seemed to be a race with the bikes - although the motorcyclists seemed not to be responding in any way. One motorcyclist was at this point ahead of the 134 service and it managed to cut get in front of the second cyclist and sped off along the A40 towards Tottenham Court Road. The motorcyclists appeared to head down Shaftsbury Avenue anyway so the driver had no need to overtake them.
As I was cycling in that direction, I was behind the bus by some distance but caught up with it as it stopped to talk to a colleague on another bus which was parked almost at Centre Point, immediately adjacent to The Angel pub. I came along side the driver's cab and said to him that with driving like that, he should lose his licence. He laughed in my face and replied "Yeah, thank you, goodbye" and sped off again laughing. His colleague also laughed at me.
I am absolutely staggered at the disgusting behaviour of this driver and the manner of his driving was not only dangerous but with a complete callous disregard to any other road-user in an area with many pedestrians, including those from other countries who may not be familiar with our road system, but also with a lot of pedal cyclists and other vehicles. It was clear that even when I approached the driver, he couldn't care any less about his driving. It is one thing to drive a car in this kind of manner, but to drive such a huge vehicle like this is absolutely unfathomable and I was left absolutely disgusted.
This email is also being copied to the Met Police Safer Transport Team as I believe it is serious enough to warrant a report being made to the police.*
I got a reply from the met, asking for some more details and eventually got a reply from the bus operator:
*I am writing in response to your complaint to London Buses regarding the actions of one of our drivers on a route 134, details of which have been passed on from London Buses for our attention.
You won’t be surprised to learn that the safety of our passengers, as well as that of other road users, is an issue we take extremely seriously. Our drivers receive comprehensive training to enable them to perform their duties to the highest standard. As you would expect, safety is a vital part of this training. To drive a bus erratically or at excessive speed is totally unacceptable.
I was extremely concerned to learn about the incident you witnessed. Our bus drivers are also the public face of London Buses. As such, they’re expected to behave in professional manner at all times. Driver behaviour such as you describe is totally unacceptable.
The incident is currently in the process of being investigated and followed up with the member of staff concerned. You can be assured that arising from our findings an appropriate course of action will be taken to deal effectively with the matter.
I should like to apologise for any annoyance that may have been caused on this occasion.
Yours sincerely
Jon Parry

I'm not 100% sure what the driver has done wrong (beyond a slightly dickish attitude, which, could be understandable when being lectured to by an absolute stranger). Where have I gone wrong?

Hope springs eternal.
Most times, I wonder if the angry car drivers are just frustrated at being suck in a car, in solid traffic, paying for the privilege via congestion charging, listening to a radio show or someone else's CD they hate, whilst we enjoy the last glorious days of summer.
Sounds like Hugh Grant.

Thanks Oliver(s):)
@ojeffcott If, for example, someone has evidence (helmet cam footage for example) of careless driving or of an abusive driver would it be easier to claim a civil case rather than go to the police...or both? But there have been numerous cases where claims were 100% proved with camera evidence but judges said were inadmissible in court.

Maybe it wasn't a very good explanation by me, but I've honestly never seen anything like it. He was inches away from wiping out a motorcyclist with a bus and was driving the bus like it was a rally car. I'm honestly not just a whinging cyclist wanting to get somebody in trouble but it was completely unbelievable - and I see plenty of terrible bus driving.
To be honest, I don't mind if somebody laughs in my face or is rude, but if he actually killed somebody and I hadn't done anything....etc...

I know of a number of cases where helmet camera film from cyclists has been used in magistrates' courts, but I don't know of any instances where it has been deemed inadmissable. Do you know the cases? I'm genuinely interested.
Here is one of the more recent cases that I am aware of (from earlier this month):
Hit by a car - Result - YouTube
I was hit by a car back in February, the driver was in court today, charged with driving without due care and attention.
The driver was found guilty, given 3 penalty points onto his licence, fine and court costs totalling £465.
I was surprised that the driver did not plead guilty originally, considering the video evidence. The defence tried to imply that I had hit out at the car, causing me to fall, and the driver claimed that no contact was made.
I think the defence was trying to imply that I go around looking for trouble since I have a helmet camera, but the magistrates would not allow them to question me about my other videos.
I don't think anything would have happened without the video evidence - I had 2 witness details, but neither attended court, so it was his word against mine. I don't think the driver would have been found guilty without the camera footage.
I have included additional footage after the collision, to prove that I did not chase after the car shouting "c*nt c*nt f*cking c*nt"...

if anyone knows where LG10 GBZ lives or works I would like *&^% *&£"!$$ the mutha - %^$£"
green motorbike heads along the mile end road then down onto the embankment to parliament square
he continually rides very close to cyclists in the cycle lane and feels like he needs to advise everyone about the laws of the land

@origamist that is nasty. What was the driver like in court - I mean...what kind of c*** hits someone and can drive off with no sense of guilt then has the lack of shame to lie through their rotten teeth about their actions?
To top off this sequence -despite the blatant lie a sub £500 in costs???
I'd get more for hurting an animal. I'd have got far worse for typing the lyrics of I predict a riot on facebook a few months back!!Sadly I can't remember where it was that I'd read it but I remember the article saying some police forces had ZERO idea whether they could use the videos for prosecutions and in some cases they didn't use it.

Don't fully understand. How do you know where it rides from and to? Did you get 'advise', if so, what did the rider look like? How slow must they have been riding? If it was that bothersome why not kick the rider off?

i have commuted most days since feb not always leaving the house at exactly the same time sometime he passes me at bow church sometimes at mile end i've even with the wind behind me had him pass along the embankment as i turn right to trafalgar he goes straight on and there are no further turns before parlaiment sq. so i can trace his journey that far
if anyone is crossing westminster bridge at 7.20am please keep and aye out and let me know which way he turnsif i park in the cycle box in front of traffic he will undertake / pass closely .. when i address him about his unsavoury vbehaviour he tells me i should fuck off out of his way
he is admittedly very short so i think he has one of those inferiority complexes about his height issue angry short bloke ... the very worst
and i am a peaceable person kicking him off would just get me into trouble and that is contrary to the way i want things to happen

Just 'cos my light turned amber doesn't mean your one turned green, you Pringle guzzling retard-o-flid!
I was backed up by a car who'd also passed the amber light and yet this ultra-stem still pulled off through his red light. It's a marvel of modern day technology that some of us can stuff 42% potato based snackery down our gullets (with both hands) at the same time as bounding off a set of lights like a scalded cat, steering with the knees and probably texting with the huge, tumescent dong protruding from our foreheads. Reaming cockpiece.

so annoyed with myself for not reporting this but was very nearly involved in a really bad accident on way to the GF's on friday after work.
Was riding down colliers wood high street at about 6.15pm in the CS7 smurf lane matching traffic speed on the downhill (prob 22-25mph) when the car one car length ahead of me brakes sharply, throws on her indicator and pulls up across into the CS lane to park up.
Cue heart in mouth, front brake clamped on, rear wheel locked into skid and thankfully I slowed just enough that I didn't go into the rapidly closing v-shaped wedge between kerb/car and I stopped half a yard off their rear bumper.
body flushed with adrenaline I felt a bit dizzy/woozy at how close I'd come to a very nasty high-speed collision. In my confusion I thought, not far to the missus' just get home.
as I ride around the car, the driver who having finally realised she had nearly killed someone wound down her window a crack and meekly says sorry.
wasn't til I got back to Emma's that the adrenaline wore off and I realised I didn't even get the number plate. am still incredulous how someone can be that ignorant of the blue cycle lanes. I mean she must have been driving right next to it for a while, surely she would have passed other cyclists/they passed her and reinforced it's purpose. how do you not at the very least check that you're not about to weave a cyclist into the pavement before you pull over erratically to illegally park in what is essentially another lane of traffic.
doesn't fucking help that tfl have peppered the lanes with parking spaces out of rush hour so people get used to the idea of being able to park in them.

must be the exception that proves the rule.
mobile using fuckwit in a red saxo forced me into the pavement at tulse hill gyratory - stacked it onto the pavement and caught up with her at the lights. my wrist hurts like a bastard, less so from falling on it, moreso because i slapped her rear view mirror right off her shitty fucking car.
/not big or clever.
