You can't use normal running shoes to learn the kind of technique that goes with Vibrams or pure barefoot running. You'd be better off running barefoot on grass or bare earth if you want to try it out without shelling out for Vibrams. Some people just stick with pure barefoot and never look back (in which case you've saved some cash).
