^ for anyone that cares, the solution appears to be a 22mm strap and some 2mm notching pliers.

Google images show mostly metal bracelets, but no notched leather.

Yup... I have an original metal bracelet (stamped with LM) but I prefer leather. Not looking for an original strap but I have an 18mm strap which I tried on it and it looks awful. I think a thick strap will make it look much better.

I've got a similar notched leather band on one of my Chris Wards. Your search has highlighted the struggle I will have to replace it.

I'm trying to get a leather strap for this:
It has closed lugs; any idea where I can get a leather strap that is stepped or indented like a metal bracelet (ie 18mm lug width but the strap is actually 20 or even 22mm)
Can't help ya sowwy

it shouldn't matter, you can still use a normal ie:18mm strap, it should still fit ok.

Helpful of EalingAh, sorry mate forgot about those. I bought the Zulu for it and used the original pins.
So, if you have another use for 'em go right ahead. I have too many watches. Should've invested in quartz.. -

all seiko's should use the fat pins, if you are using a nato

What solution is good for cleaning a dirty (filthy!) casing? Can't take my latest find for service in current condition.
-
• #3893
if it is water resistant, just use a tooth brush and some soapy water

That sounds like my mum. She used to vacuum the house, top to bottom, on a Sunday evening so that it wouldn't be dirty for when the cleaner came round on Monday. Mental.

I bought a pair of Notching Pliers this morning (2mm only) from eBay. They are free to borrow if anyone needs them...

Do be aware that soapy water is better at defeating seals than just water. It's all to do with some science-y stuff about surface tension and shit. Alcohol cuts grease pretty well, and if you leave it on your toothbrush it evaporates, unlike the soapy water, which will make you gag in the morning.
