Steve Jobs is dead. If it weren't for he, there would be no Android, Meebo, Maemo, all competing to match or surpass the iOS, and iPhones.
Good job Steve. I learned BASIC on an Apple IIe back in highschool in the States. Never been an Apple fan, but I do admire genius.http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/oct/06/steve-jobs-apple-cofounder-dies
A huge loss to the technology community.

Fucking Hell! Really shocked at that.
Changed the face of computing forever - I'm fucking rubbish at all things tech but I love my Mac.
Tragic.
RIP Uberboffin.

RIP Steve, without him we could well have lived in a completely Microsoft universe...

Or he pretty much ensured that we did.
MS made its first money writing apple software.
And later on of course stealing their OS design.Jobs didn't just change the face of computing. By so doing he changed the world. There wouldn't be a Windows PC in every home and office without the Mac. Computers would still be tech tools for geeks.

I'm sure hauska has an opinion on Steve Jobs.
I reckon it's a shame. I thank whoever/whatever put him here.

I saw someone call it the "9/11 of the tech industry", which I interpret as "a lot of respected people will say a lot of dumb shit today, and it's best to stay off the internet".
Thank fuck for LFGSS. If it leaks over too many threads I will be merging the hell out of it.
-
• #1795
Actually I'm merging the hell out of it already.

Jesus that's going a little too far isn't it?
-
• #1797
certainly is, don't see what terrorism has to do with it.
But it's also the biggest, most important figure of the industry gone. I think it'll change a lot of things. Apple probably has the next 5 years staked out already, but after that we'll see how it actually affected them

"The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented." Barack Obama

Completely right, I'm not sure if it would be 5 years though. Think how much technology moves in 5 years. From what I've read about him it would seem that whatever company he worked for it would have done well, I really think Apple will suffer from this.
