Do it Woods.
6 rounds of swiss, that'd be awesome.
-
• #5
6 rounds of swiss could be pointless, if there aren't many teams. Might better to see how many teams there are first.

This will be the final event of the NS but there aren't any prizes.

6 rounds is great, there was not enough rounds at the LO and it caused some problems for final ranking in my opinion. But obviously if there is only 10 teams, there's no need to play 6 rounds

The number of rounds should be (at least) log2 X rounded up, where X is the number of teams.
Any less than that, and the best two teams (or worst two teams) may not play each other, and more than that, and you will end up with teams playing other teams which are futher away from them in the ranking, producing mismatches.
Up to a point that doesn't matter too much, for example with 32 teams, you should have 5 rounds, but with a 6th round, worst case 1st plays 7th, and 32nd plays 26th, which shouldn't be that much of a mismatch.

Just realised that's Guy Fawkes Night.
Sounds like a recipe for disaster ;)
When?
Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of November
Start at 10AM on saturday so be at the court for 9AM. teams that are late will have to forefit first games.
Finish at 6PM (approx.) on the sunday.
Where?
Harvest way, Cambridge Court is close to train station and is very close to centre of town. There will be two courts.
Who can enter?
Anyone! It's an open tournament so we'd hope there will be a number of teams from all around the country (and possibly further?) of all skill levels. Please spread the word to everyone! However it is most likely (can anyone confirm) that this will be the NS 2011 finale. So overall prize giving etc could be done?
How do I enter?
By sending an email to cambridgebikepolo@gmail.com with details of your team. Currently there is no cap on entries, There will be a cut off date for regristration is will most likely be the weekend before. i will confirm soon. There is an entry fee of £30 per team. If you are planning on travelling from afar, we'll be able to offer somewhere for a limited number of people to sleep. More details to come.
What's the format?
Aiming for 6 Swiss Rounds on the saturday (if theres enough time) and Double Elim on the Sunday.
