Cool. I wonder if that can be customised to, say, within 100 miles.
Would be nice.
Anyone use Latitude? Anyone got it working properly?

Yes.
Latitude has worked properly for the last two years. -

Seems to work fine. Finds me within a few feet on the map. Not used the 'I am here' tags though.

Defiantly all over the place on my phone and the same on a friends. It seems to jump to previous locations randomly.
Caching the area doesn't make any difference.

Latitude stopped working for me for a few months (wouldn't report my location). Was a common problem according to the google forums I found. It's working now. shrug
Joe, I wouldn't pay for a phone on a contract renewal. At least, I haven't up to this point.

I've just downloaded the Dolphin Mini Browser for my HTC desire. For some reason, pages don't load when I have my wifi connection active, but work fine when it's turned off.
I only changed browsers because Opera seemed to keep forgetting all my settings (mostly because it kept forgetting I was logged into the forum).
Can anyone help? Being largely technologically incompetent my efforts to diagnose the problem so far have failed completely.

I'm overdue for an upgrade, so HTC desire or Samsung galaxy S 2? or?

This could be incoming soon

4G, so probably won't have (immediate, at least) UK release.

My contract is up in three weeks. Not sure what to do. My Desire is still more than capable of doing anything (unlike my G1 18 months later). I would like a larger screen though... May just go for a cheaper tariff and stick with the Desire.

HTC desire or Samsung galaxy S 2?
Can't comment on Samsung, but I've recently got an HTC Desire S and am not getting on with it very well. Needed a twelve year old to put some of what I wanted where it was wanted, and it still has big holes in the way it works, and masses of guff you don't want.
Can any one tell me why it doesn't put the 'answer phone message' symbol on the top line when you get a message? Orange contract, nothing in the user manual about making it go away or come back, google reports I'm not the only one.

What do you mean? All the HTCs show "Missed call" and "New message" as notification symbols at the top of the screen.

Unless it's free, in which case get the most expensive.

So I've installed the latest miui.us build on my N1 and it's very impressive. I'm not sure what advantages the newer phones are besides "performance"

The 'new message' symbol doesn't appear. I rang 123 just in case, as I'd missed a call, and there were loads of them. Doesn't really matter, forever alone. I'll turn it off and on again.

Higher resolution, bigger screens, more memory (not you HTC, fuck off), more battery life, better audio, better wifi, better gps um.. you get the idea.

decision could be made then

Speak to Orange.
This has always worked for me on multiple Samsung and HTC devices on O2. -

Once you listen to the message, press 3 to delete, wait a few seconds and it will go.

You may have accidentaly opted out of that service. Had the same thing happen when I upgraded.
