Roberts have many years of experience building custom bicycles.
Don't rush the consultation. Take as long as you can, and ask as many questions as you need to. The process is really fun, and Chas or Brian are very knowledgeable and helpful. Above all, trust them to fit the bike to your needs.
I have 2 beautiful Roberts frames. My wife has 1.
My Track Bike
Made to Roberts' spec, using the eclectic mix of tubes he prefers. Giving balance weight and stiffness. It is a beautiful machine, stiff enough to sprint on (badly) and comfortable enough to take in as many laps as the coaches throw at me mst Saturdays at Herne Hill (lungs/legs dependent). It then takes me home in style.
My Road Bike
I was a little more demanding on this one and insisted on a full Columbus Life normal diameter tube set i.e. not oversize. Including the chain stays, which I was advised against as Columbus Foco is their preferred material. My decision was based purely on aesthetics. This is a beautiful light frame, which is extremely comfortable and fast. I do complain occasionally about it flexing a tad. Perhaps I could have gone for oversize (I weigh around 85Kg). I am very happy to ride it as often as I can. It is beautiful!
My Wife's Light Touring (Audax)
This was fitted and built up purely to Roberts' spec. He specialises in this kind of bike. Again. it is beautiful. I can't comment on anything besides the quality and thought put into the componentry, which is his special mix of Shimano, Campag and Stronglight. I wish VeeVee would ride it more.
Above all, enjoy your experience. The result will be a superb bike that (most) carbon junkies will drool over.
