I'd be careful about assuming you can lug line yourself post powdercoat - my understanding is it can be quite tricky to find things that will stick well to the gloss layer. Might be worth giving them a call and asking first.
Nah I've done it a few times with just plain Humbrol enamel from a model shop.

Hard to make out in that picture, but I just prepped and sprayed the headtube with gloss white and lug-lined with red, and it hasn't chipped after a year or so.

just emailed duncan,
I wanted to have a 3/4 foot long strip on top tube painted in different colour than the frame itself, unfortunately he replied that they dont do that.
according to him, powdercoating one rim and a steel frame would cost 109 quid if anyone's interested.
guess I will just have to finish it with a rattle can..

Building my first bike - having FINALLY tracked down a small enough Mixte frame (British Eagle). Want to take it for a spray this week - can Armourtex pick out the lug details for me or do I need to do that post? Also there's bits I don't need on the frame (old gear change nob on top tube, hook for the pump on the seat tube) - can they blast/sand these off for me pre powder coat? I'm doing my nut in choosing the colour! Cheers
Call them, but I doubt they will/can do either for you.
On the lug lining, as was said using a paint touch up is a really easy option. Halfords have looooooooooooaaaaaaaaaddddds in pretty much any colour any car comes in. Practice doing straight lines on a bit of paper then practice on the bottom lugs that won't notice. Because powder coating is a bit plasticy you can wipe off the paint pretty easily with some kitchen toweling dipped in white spirit.
This is mine, using a Rover purple pearlescent:
Also if you search there is a thread somewhere on lug lining which might have more tips.

I'm getting my condor steel frame powdercoated & lacquered in the next few weeks. i'm thinking dark blue ish with flakes.
My forks are carbon so if any of you needs steel forks powdercoated & lacquered, let me know.
I know it's a long shot but the frameset is £75 so we could share the costs.
Cheers

Pearlescent white, gloss finish, 4th try, but now very nice. In person it has a slight green/purple tinge depending on how the light hits it. Minor sparkles.

I have no scratches or marks so far after a month of heavy use, seems bomb proof

Ok, so I've had a frame sprayed at Armourtex before and was very happy with the outcome. I'm building up a winter beater and want a hideous lime green colour, kinda like the Lotus out of that dodgy Eastwood movie 'The Rookie'... Was gonna go raw but that's so boring.
The closest I can find is RAL 6018 Yellow Green or the (BS 4800 C) 14 E 51 Bright Green. Does anyone know of a better colour or maybe a colour/tinted lacquer combo that could acquire the POC colour I desire?

does anyone know if armourtex do colourways ? i.e. 2 colours on the frame?

Cheers everyone for the lug help. Getting one of those pens.
Took it down there last week got some questions answered which seems others have been asking too..
they don't do two colours
they don't do decals pre laquer
they do have more colours than on the site (be prepared to change your mind)
they do do frame tidying up/braising off etc (they take it to another guy).I paid £100 for the frame, gloss coat and shit loads frame neatening (losing gear changer on bottom tube, gears on left back fork, pump holder hook and bottle holder holes). Decided for the sake of £25-30 would be work me not trying to hack it up).
Picking it up in a few days. Went this duck egg blue.
anyone ever seen any good coral/salmon pink bikes? Really wanted it but couldn't see the right colour, or it ever done nicely for that matter.

Ah that's nice. Is what I wanted to do. How did you prep it? Getting my newly powdercoated frame back in a few days - do I need to do something before I get happy with a pot of Humbrol paint and paintbrush.
Going to do the lugs with one of these someone recommended, looks easier to handle.

great colours on here ! can't wait to drop off frame on Monday

this was done back home. you can choose metallic colours, rather than the sparkle, the metallic doesn't seem to soften the lugs so much
I love this colour. I am about to have a frame resprayed and have been looking for something like this, can you remember the RAL?

Just dropped my next frame off, the new metallic colours are amazing, alas a little too spendy for me, so I went for some sparkly goodness instead. Cant wait.

If you haven't done it already - for the coloured headtube I gave it a key with a scotchbrite pad (200g sandpaper would be fine) and a wipe with cellulose thinners, then a thin coat of plastic primer, then a few topcoats, then wetsand up to 2000g, applied the headbadge with araldite, and then polished.
For just doing the lug-lining, a quick wipe with thinners/white spirit will do, just in case someone has put an oily hand on it. It won't need any sanding or anything. Keep a rag and some white spirit nearby in case you mess up.
Incidentally did you get your bike done in a coral/salmon pink sort of colour? I'd really like something like that for my touring bike but it's a tough decision...
edit - I see you didn't.A metallic pinky champagne sorta colour, now that'd be nice...

apollo how much was the spray if you dont mind me asking?

about £70...
wow thats impressive for what looks like a top notch finish!

mate armourtex are superb. I'm so pleased! I also found out today that the frame is probably an early 60's Bob Jackson!
They will not take off braze-ons, you have to do that yourself. I wouldn't recommend filing them down as that would take literally days! You want to hacksaw -> file -> emery paper / wet'n'dry. If you dont get it completely flat (especially top tube cable guides) otherwise it will be really obvious after coating.
As said before, do lug lining yourself, i'm sure they won't do it. If you meant having the lugs a different colour, i don't think they'll do that either, but maybe worth an ask...
