    There are some downsides to exercise:

    • Many people overestimate how much it can burn
    • People often try too much too early and then give up, rather than building up slowly and building fitness. They may also injure themselves in the process.
    • Vigorous exercise can stimulate food cravings and make people overeat.

    That said, good fitness contributes to weight loss by improving your mood and energy levels. It's also a big help in maintaining a healthy weight after the initial weight loss.
