hello i have been dreeming about owning a fixed gear for four or five yars now and have finally got round to buying one.
Anyway I don't know if there are enough Fixies in Aberdeen to make it worth while, Maybe if it catered for the masses as well then it would do ok as a forum

Yeah, I think for now, one thread will do for Aberdeen based riders.
As an update: due to the changes by the HMRC to the cycle2work scheme, my employer basically put our scheme on hold indefinitely, which meant no geared bike for me. So I'm doing a 190 miles a week commuting on fixed gear. Which is actually going ok, just means I go very slowly sometimes!
Did everyone enjoy the snow/sleet/hail this week?

I've been bikeless for a week! Someone totally trashed my frame while trying to steel it last weekend and totally f*cked up the stay beyond beleif.... this has meant a 40 min walk across town to work and back every day! Should have my new set-up up and running tomorrow to enjoy the poor weather on :)

Sorry to hear about your frame - where did that happen?
I've been back on fixed past couple of weeks now I have 48 x 19 again, loved it, the weather has been fucked up but actually really digging the cold ;)

It was outside my mates flat near castlegate... you may think 'well what do you expect' but it's pretty hidden from the roads and i've locked it their a bunch of times! At least i know the lock works, it's just a shame it was stronger than my frame :(
The new bike feels so good, i opted for a less road style frame and a more trick oriented frame for a really beefy commuter, super short stem so it feels like a giant bmx which is sweet!! Going to try and take a few pics and get them uploaded soon!Eightball, are you one the red fixed gear you built up last year? Did you ever find the shoes you were looking for?

Yep I'm riding that red and chrome Carlton track frame still. I didn't get any shoes - just decided to use my existing MTB shoes and pedals on my road bike, but have just bought some Northwave GTX boots for the Winter - ooh toasty!
Be interested in seeing the pics

Hi guys,
Not sure how much interest there might be in this but thought I would ask if anyone would fancy trying their hand at bike polo?
I currently play in London but I'm due to come back to Aberdeen this weekend and I'd really like to get a polo scene started.
I can provide mallets, balls & the bike can just be anything to begin with, although drops and bullhorns aren't great.
Let me know if your interested or if you know of anywhere central with a walled football court.

Can't believe it took this long for me to find this thread! Seen a few SS/Fixed going about the city, not nearly enough though!

Well it's been a while since i've posted on here! But after spending my winter in the french alps it doesn't look like i will be gracing the roads of aberdeen on a fixed gear again! I've moved back to Luxembourg where the roads are super smooth and where my ns analog has become slightly redundant (like i said i wanted a beefy commuter) and i'll be reverting back to more road orientated frames! Even on a trick frame i'm showing up all the roadies!! But it's nice to here a few more people are adopting ss/fg lifestyle in aberdeen, i just hope they aren't walking them up and down the pavements!!

Hope you've got good pothole dodging skills

Just came across the first other fixed gear rider I've ever seen in Real Life (TM). And for the back country roads out Ellon way, that's pretty good going.

No idea, you could check out the website or facebook page and abuse someone on there, if you're about on thursday you should go along to the thursday night ride, went last week and there was about 14 folk all in, bloody good fun :)

Hi there everyone, does anyone know of any drops or bullhors going for spare? 25.4mm clamp size. Money's tight and postage can be a killer... Cheers.

Is there still an Aberdeen Fixed Gear facebook group? I was trying to find it today but doesn't seem to be there anymore.
Anyone fill me in?

Is anybody in Aberdeen still riding? I might find myself there soon enough.

There's the Thursday night ride, 9pm at Elphintone lawn, although last few weeks have been low turnout due to half of the students going home
