Yes, SRAM 10-speed road levers will work with 10-speed MTB dérailleurs, and vice versa. They unified the cable pull when MTB changed to 10s. 9-speed (1:1, ESP) MTB kit won't work with either road parts or 10s MTB parts.

This what I thought. But the danish site I was looking at, had the old 9 speed descriptions on the equivalent 10 speed mechs. Which caused a lack of confidence. I also found a forum thread with plenty of incorrect advice. Weirdly it was'nt this forum ;)

Also the X9 will handle a 36t cassette sprocket, which leaves more options open.
