I think we might have different views on this.
Deciding to carry my DSLR (5D mk1 btw) around more is one thing, doing it is another. I'm a lazy man, and I know myself good enough to realize that it's very likely I'd shoot more with a smaller, if technically inferior, camera, than my 5D. Shooting more also means shooting better, as I will learn and evolve my photography the more I shoot. Therefor, for me, a smaller but possibly lesser good camera, will be a better camera, since it'd get more use.
Makes sense?
