    Why wouldn't racers want a brake that works the same way every time, regardless of conditions? Even if you don't end up with more power, the utter predictability lets you pedal further before you try the brakes, and one metre can be the difference between stuffing it up the inside of your competitor and having to follow them round the corner.

    People made the same comments about disc brakes on MTB XC bikes; they're too heavy, V-brakes already have plenty of power etc. Now look at the field in pretty much every XC race and try to find some rim brakes
