My understanding is that all white goods sold in the EU come with a 24 month Manufacturer warranty - 12 months with Manufacturer, 12 months with Retailer. Your contract of sale is with the Retailer, not the Manufacturer. If a failure occurs within the first 12 months and is deemed to be as a result of a defect from the manufacturing process, the Retailer has an opportunity to repair first, or provide an exchange or refund - they then take it up with the Manufacturer. After 12 months, it's a Manufacturers warranty
