Was fun tonight, although any delusion of fitness that I once had was completely shattered. I thought I could use the 'undergeared' excuse for getting dropped early, but Fixedcheese was running the exact same gear ratio! - a nice reminder that I need to HTFU.

I am still doing 1pm laps a few days a week (usually with a slow puncture) if anyone wants to get some time in while it's light.

The disk was rockin OSR, want! Scared of tubs on the mean streets though.
My HR was up over 90% the whole time.
Sorry had to bug out early. -

Fuck I was slow. 66GI was not good. Did 5 solo laps in 40 mins, 20mph average was a bit of a downer
I've never broken 19.7 on 66GI around RP so that seems perfectly good to me. You must have been spinning like a motherfucker!

Sorry still don't know where was the meet up, hope everyone was ok, thought it was a bit quiet today compared to last week! but still good fun!

He was! A fucking good effort mate i wouldn't be so hard on yourself on that ratio!

Yes, glad the damage from that pile up was so minimal. Mostly some nerve-jangling. Noticed last week that she feels very strongly about holding 6pt's wheel, so perhaps as you said, FC, it was unwise to get between them!
OSR, any good news from the google trax?
-
• #2462
Yeah it had the following;
Average moving speed 21.0mph
Max speed 28.52mph
Distance 20.26 miles (think i ended up doing 7 laps)But again treat this with a pinch of salt as Google Tracks isn't perfect - Tom was with me on the "warmup" lap and laughed as he overtook saying i held 25mph average down the back straight past the embassy etc and thats based on his Garmin which i tend to believe more than bloody google!

Thanks, OSR. So despite the bumps and the night, not too far off last week's google trackstimation.
Looking forward to the next one.

I had a decent cadence in 52/12 for a few hundred yards down past the mosque. Black Condor dude was a +ve influence. I like that little group.
edit: cooked by the lights though....

I ended up with the deep section wheels/superbikes brigade. turns out, when you're riding something similar, they're actually quite pleasant to you. who knew?!
-
• #2466
(was managing a 26mph average on the first lap until the penultimate set of lights broke things. Last lap at a 25mph average, a reasonable 23.3mph overall (22 miles))

Did you crush them?

I've had two weeks in a row with a mix of grupetto and rapha chaps and they've all been lovely. Never had a bad experience around regents apart from an occasional bod mercilessly sucking the poop out of your wheel while you warm up, which can be a bit irritating.
Think I spotted you while you were grouping up at the top of the albany st side....the Look is Hawt. I was rocking my baggy Roche Carrera jersey, I always ride faster in that bad boy.

I thought that was you, but was experiencing the kind of vision narrowing that sets in about half way through the session and lacked the faculty to smile, wave or otherwise comment. Jersey looked good. I've had a few of the fancily biked peeps get a bit uppity when I'm on fixed, they seem more combative than collaborative. Last night was much more enjoyable.

No worries mate, last week was significantly faster tho, i think we were up above 22mph average. Like i was saying to Tom on the ride back to Peckham when i started i was crap and struggling to do 18mph average and now anything below 22mph is disappointing. Still good to know we can beat 20mph average on a "slow" day.
I may do a 4 lap special next week to avoid the darkness/sock rippers. We'll see.
Thanks, OSR. So despite the bumps and the night, not too far off last week's google trackstimation.

There's some fucking quick guys out there doing laps but there's also a lot of "all the gear no idea" who hate it when you go sailing past sans derailleur avec novelty wheels.
The LOOK does dominate above all other bikes going round the park tho, anyone being uppity is just jealous ;-)

^IIRC, you had a half time breather...

I do like the idea of finishing this years sessions with a Boris Bike-based hHoP (keep it free, innit), as suggested by Andrey...
dubtap, you'll always fit right in! was expecting to see you as I rode up to the park, was planning on berating you until you caved and joined us.
Enjoyed it tonight altho to echo Tom the crash also put a bit of a downer on it for me. I may do a half HoP next week and bugger off when it gets dark proper.
Fixed Cheese - i was behind and saw the whole thing, you were just locked into a massive skid, you even looked round partway through with a confused look on your face as to why there was some random lady hanging off your rear axle! Glad everyone came off OK altho i think she was a little shaken up by the whole thing.
I totally lost count after that, think i ended up doing 7 laps in 50 ish mins blah blah etc. Disc was fun tho! :-)
