I rode out to Bishops Stortford on Sunday, we could do the route they have planned (agree on a meeting place or two)
ill have my jesus phone with me too, and have maps on that -
• #78
I think Amygdala went out Bishop Stortford way at the weekend.
Would you ride all the way from Loughton or drive over and meet me and matt round Brentwood somewhere?
-
• #79
I'll ride to Brentwood from here. Gathering it's not before 7am though? riding in the dark isn't all that fun
-
• #80
Haha no, more like 10 would be better
-
• #81
Looks like a nice ride. Where and when shall we meet? I like the sound of 10am a whole lot more than 7!
Dsan I've got parking permits if you do want to drive over and leave your car in Brentwood.
I'll also make sure the fancy-pants phone is fully charged!

me and ms.chris might be on for this. i've dropped out of the fixie only ride to clacton, i think chris is probably not going to show up on a geared bike either.
but 10am for us is just about realistic (we'd be coming from peckham).
we'd like to get one last spin in before i start working every weekend again.might get the train to a meeting point with you rather than ride there depending on distance.

@mattsplanb, I don't mind the ride, will be a good warmup run as well. Glad there looks like a good group forming, so guess we need to decide on meeting points.

Kevin, I think we've met through polo once or twice, would be good to see you sir. You could get the train to Shenfield, if you're lucky it takes about 25mins from Liverpool St. That's pretty local to me and matt.
EDIT: If you ride it it's about 20 miles as the crow flies, then another 76miles going by the London guys route plan. And there's a station at Frinton, yes.

anyone know a nice ride in the thurrock area..
-
• #86
Yeah Stu I met you when you were playing with Joe and Beagle.
Shenfield might be a good option alright. Let me talk to my lady friend tonight and get back to you on it.
FWIW we're not hardcore roadies or anything. We're riding geared but we take it moderate.
76 miles to Frinton would be more than enough I think.

Sorry I think I got the miles figures mixed up. It's only about 50 from Shenfield to Frinton, or 76 the whole way. I'll be taking it pretty easy, yeah. Lots of coasting down the hills!

Why don't you join us for the clacton/frinton ride?
Maybe meet us in Shenfield and ride as far as you feel comfortable. It's only 30 miles from Shenfield to Colchester which is the first easy place to get the train back. For anyone who's reasonably fit and has their bike set up right 30 miles is easily doable. How far have you ridden before?
-

This sounds good. I think we're in. Hopefully the weather will be good.
I'll probably float it with a couple of other riders who were originally on for Clacton but dont want to go now.

i will do, i rode from ockendon to dagenham and back and ride to southend every now and then southends 26 miles so 30 should be do-able

I'm there if the weather's OK, at the moment it looks a bit wet. Don't mind a few showers but if it's gonna be raining all day I'll be miserable
Feel free to make a thead if you reckon it's worth it

Hmmm yeah I see that. Not good.
But advance forecasts do tend to change a bit. Lets see what happens tomorrow.
The London guys are doing this route. It looks like there's only one way to get through the Mersey Island and Colchester area. I'll check if my Essex OS map covers as far as Clacton/Frinton, in which case we'll be set. Matt's fancy-pants phone was very handy as well last time we got lost!
