Thanks for the info folks. Is there not a difference between MTB (135mm) and Road (130mm) or is that just axle spacing and nothing to do with cassette width (which I know are obviously not 130 or 135mm wide). What I mean is, I have an 8sp Shimano Altus rear mech, and the bike in question has a busted 105 mech and is a road bike (with old 105 groupset on it). Not sure if the altus is long or short cage, but I'd say long...
