If you'd been involved in the conversations at the beginning I was having with people I candidly admit that my experience is limited to approx 100m of riding Sram Red.
However what you should realise is that I've been riding bikes all my life and specifically racing bikes since I was 14. That's 15 years of pretty much daily riding experience. I also am in more than just the LFGSS community but am a member of two race clubs in London and Dorset. I also know a number of people who work in the industry; not the likes of Tokyo Fixed Gear but proper, dedicated race bikes shops. I also know Albi ;).
I'm sorry but people who got involved in cycling through the fixed scene over the last few years and suddenly have a race bike (often their first) who then feel they have the knowledge base, skills base and experience base with which to inform me that I don't know what I'm talking about is slightly abrasive.
SRAM has a comfortable hood, yes. But from what I gather and understand the shifting system is certainly down in usability from both Campy and Shammy. Furthermore I have heard numerous people complaining that the braking quality is poor and (also per Albi last night) there is also no centering screw on the calipers (at least Rival, not sure about Red).
The 2 jobs a groupset serve is braking and gear changing. Seems Sram have someway to go.
Lol. You should have seen the first draft! ;)
Fucking SRAM lovers. Bunch a liberal-voting c*nts if you ask me.
Still not Super Record of Di2 though is it?
That sir, was fucking quick.
Photos or it didn't happen.
It's the hairline that confuses people. In fact I was mistaken for 38 at 44Con last week, which was rubbish.
I was ranting a little last night (seemed to be doing a lot of that) to some people about the cost of race bikes; not just the build costs but the costs of running them.
E.g. I popped to Condor last week for a few bits and bobs. Swiss Stop brake pads, Campagnolo Record cable set (inners and outers) and 2 Continental inner tubes (80mm) came to a still staggering £76/78.
Only when I got home did I realise I'd paid £9/inner tube. Absolutely fucking sickening.
Considering the annual income of the industry mixed with the hideous mark-up levels it makes you think who the fuck is making all the money, it's certainly not the bike shops (except Condor) ;).
BTW is there a dark rant thread? Think I might need to go>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
^Old fuck.
Did you get a medal or anything? What was the distance?
Funny you say that. Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire's road race circuits have all but disappeared. All that you can compete in down there now is TT's. Bloody annoying, but great fun.
Facking hell.... you get your Coke jar and sugar jar mixed up when you were making your coffee this morning?? Rant rant rant...
