    I use a Squeezebox Transporter, but previously had a Touch for ages.

    Cons: You need to host the music externally (on a computer or NAS), and you need to run a server externally (install software on a computer or NAS, does not have to be the same one that you host music on).

    Pros: Phenomenal sound (for the money), Android app is wonderful (I don't use iPhone, so I don't know about that), web based app is pretty good, can listen to music remotely if you configure your home router to allow it.

    Plays FLAC (inc 24bit) amongst other things, so it's pretty good.

    I would recommend also getting a NAS that has support for Squeezebox if you happen to be looking at that too. Or leaving your computer on works just as well but isn't as instant as having it available 24/7 because the NAS is on 24/7.
