• In the spirit of co-operation I will do this on the polobike, but I can't see why geared riders should be excluded or frowned upon, just like I don't feel it fair if you do choose to go geared to then moan about the slow pace of the ride.

    Simple, I think--it's John's ride, he tells you how it's done. I think a ride leader who makes the effort to organise enjoys that privilege. For this forum, it's hardly such a far-fetched rule to make. :)

    I've done every LFGSS ride outside London that I've done geared, although of course plenty inside London fixed, and I need to equip my fixed bike for longer rides, including getting removable bottle cages, which I've been meaning to do for ages.

    I'd love to go to Clacton but I'm still not sure I can make this one.
