My solution for a spare brake lever.
1. Get some grey polysulphide mastic (lead sealant).
2. Squirt some up inside the lever, filling the area inside the hood. (GO EASY)
  3.Tidy up any excess with a wet finger.
3. Wait 48 hours for the mastic to cure.
4. Go ride your new, rock solid, rattle free lever.
