  • ^ So I had my first session and apparently my last... We covered what would be covered with an absolute beginner in the first two sessions in about 45 mins. The trainer was really nice and calm and gathered pretty quickly that I had a fair bit of experience. Generally I think she felt that I had it all covered and she didn't really see the need for us to do a 2nd or 3rd session. I asked a few questions and we talked a bit about the politics of primary position and cycle lanes. I got the feeling that she was nervous as she felt that there wasn't much we could cover that I was in obvious need of. I was also a bit quick for her on the road. Although having done a few streets and junctions she pretty much said 'you're good to go'...

My feedback: I still think that Mrs Wrongcog should go do it. But I definitely feel that there should be a more intuitive system for booking and orgaising the sessions so that a more experienced cyclist be paired with someone who can get them out into major traffic at a decent speed and deal with any issues out there. I think that today the trainer wasn't comfortable with that stuff necessarily. She'd be wicked with kids and so on, she was properly friendly and chatty. Had all the basic bike handling stuff down, but beyond that the session petered out. Which is a shame as i needed something a bit more advanced I guess.
