I think there is far too much chat about a certain "performance roadwear" brand based in Kentish Town (yup, they keep that one quiet don't they?)...however the hell of the north route is awfully fun, particularly if you aren't precious about your bike and have more clearance than I have.

And yes, when it looks like there is a dead-end or gate into a farm or a forest, that's the prescribed route and probably best not to do it the day after heavy rain...
