poots, keep riding your new bike, try and ride as much as possible, or even go to a reputable bicycle shop and ask them to fit you properly on the road bike to minimised discomfort.
I took my new bike to a 600km ride without any proper fitting done, let just says it's sheer luck that it wasn't as bad as I though it would be (stem's a bit long).
also it's not a sportif, just a relaxing ride to the countryside.
