The tenner I owe Pistanator says he will be.
the clintsmoker exchequer can handle that. Pisti is going to owe me a cool hundred in 9 months time so it's all taken care of. bet is on.

As said, I have no issue with avoidance - it's completely legal. Maybe immoral, but not against the law.
If you had that much wouldn't you?
I'd try to pay as little as possible, as long as it's legal. What I wouldn't do is move all the money earned in one country to another in order to evade all taxes. It'd be a nice problem to have though.
Not sure how other athletes do it in Europe, but the majority of the tennis players and F1 drivers seem to be registered in either Monaco or Switzerland.

I've just been doing some maths re: the Manchester City wage bill. The net yearly spend on wages (of playing staff) has increased by £59,400,000 (after tax and before bonusses)
... If someone is earning £5.2 million after tax, on an contract signed in 2010, does that mean they will be payed £10.4million before tax, due to the 50% tax threshold? And which figure is entered into the accounts?
The before and after tax on the £59 million will not be the same as the 50% income tax for an individual. I'm not an accountant, but to employ someone on £1m a year, you don't have to pay them £2m.
The players will evade as much tax as possible (sorry, 'manage their liability') - the contractors that I work with all manage to pay much less, the clubs and players will have super accountants and I imagine they all pay almost zero.
(in fact, not zero, but 2%: http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2011/jan/16/premier-league-footballers-tax-avoidance)

Maybe if they registered themselves as companies they'd only have to pay "business rates" on any money paid to them.
Frankie Dettori and his cohorts are all paid prize money (as are snooker players) which there is no tax on. The reason they've all ended up getting served for tax evasion is because they always seem to cock it up with endorsements and add ons.

Looks like we are about to purchase another big, promising central defender

Things really are looking up for us at the moment. Such a nice change

Coates looked excellent in Copa, haven't ever seen him play before, usually Godin and Lugano, he takes after Lugano more than Godin, which is good if a big man defender is what you think you need, a ball playing defender he is not. I always liked Daniel Ayala, and I wouldn't necessarily have said Coates is any more polished better than him, but I don't know if Ayala felt he had to move.
Apparently Wenger has 90m to spend in this last week or so of the transfer window. He wont get Hazard or M'Villa...so I don't know what he'll be spending the money on...

I'm not saying that Arsenal will descend too far, but enough to make a financial difference to them.
Also the game between Arsenal and Liverpool was shockingly awful. Liverpool ever so slightly worse until Suarez came on.
It was just Hollywood passes flying across the pitch and no structure whatsoever.
Spurs weren't amazing by any stretch of the imagination last night. It seems that whoever finishes 4th this season, be it Liverpool, Arsenal or Spurs, will be purely down to the team who fucks up the least in a whole season of fuckups.
you just need Huddlestone in form all season..

i must admit i liked the look of ayala in the few games he played for us he seemed to be a good agger like central defender composed on the ball with some good skills to move the ball out of defense at feet with speed
now i know why i am not a premiershit managerthis coates getting good reviews, young player of the tournament in the copa america .. so to add to our player of the tournament we also get young player of the tournament .. which is nice if we sign him that is ... 6ft 6 though hopefully he won't be another carrol big strong but with no real skill ? althouigh i guess we just need someone to head the ball to our flying, playmaking sweeper jamie " speed merchant " " silky skills " carragher

1) the pass to him was from a player who was offside
2) he smacked Pique in the head with his foot. -
