  • Selle Italia XO.

The design has changed but they're still cheap. I never got on with them

  • in regards to the lugs check my earlier post. could be olmo, lejeune, moser, etc.

  • Gents, I found this on ebay:

Wheel is a Campy Vento which I happen to own but I never found cogs to go with the old, even-splined Campy hub. Yet here it is - anyone happen to know what cog is this? Seller wasn't any help. Hub is the same as mine so there must be something.

  • brake and old Campag cassette and get as many as you need, and in different teeth count

  • Anyone know what brake levers these are?

  • Frame for current project. Rossin, labelled 'DuPont system, hand made in italy'

Doesn't have the typical Rossin marks cut into frame, or flattened seat stays, or fork tops, which makes me wonder if its a rebadged something else.

    Any ideas?

  • Doesn't have any carvings on dropouts?
Looks like been made with deda tubes.
colors, decals and philosophy point rossin but i 'm not an expert.

Those kind of forks always remind me tange...

Rossin or not, seems like a very interesting ride.

  • OK so i bought the disc wheel some of you may have seen in the classifieds recently, i'm very happy with it but its bugging me as i can't seem to find any information on it - i've tried google web searches, velobase, trawling google image pics of disc wheels but to no avail!

Here's the pics from the for sale thread - i can take some more when i get in if that will help.

The wheel is finished in a gloss black paint coating that i think is original. From my inspection a small section has chipped off under the valve aperture and the material underneath is yellowish colour with a very tight weave leading me to believe its a kevlar wheel rather than fibreglass.

The hub simply has the following stamped into the sidewall of the bearing housing - "Made in Italy" and the thread type (can't remember the numbers right now but a standard English threaded cog fits straight on). The hub is of loose ball type and when i stripped it to re-grease it has 9 ball bearings each side - don't know if that helps at all but the more info the better i suppose.

The wheel weighs in at ~2kg with skewer, so its not light!

I'm looking forward to having a blast on it when i get my hands on a tub but it irks me that i have no idea what it is/where it comes from!

    Any help appreciated guys.

    Paul e-lever?

  • Acor crosstop?

  • I'm beginning to think (hope) this might be a holdsworth (hence the Orange, although it does look hand done..). the serial number also looks holdsworthy but there's no database of serial numbers like there are for other manufacturers) I've also got a couple more clues.

I need to stop worrying and build this up but I have to know now, but I feel like I'm so close!

Not sure if this changes anything but it has this (inner cable only so stops at each end) cable routing in the top tube.

And the 'TI18' (I think) stamped on the dropout.

    Anyone?!

  • Anyone?

Seatpost diameter (as I always suggest....). Just to make sure it is actually 531 since it looks re-sprayed.

Internal brake cable may help you narrow things down.

Internal or external? Tubes do seem very thin, will check when I get home.
    Thanks again, guys.

  • Internal. Then reference standard seat post sizes for given tubesets.

A caliper would be the best choice for measuring if you don't have a suitable seatpost or seat post measuring seat (stepped-width seat post).

The seatpost that was in the frame is marked 27.0, and it's pretty snug so I assume that's what the tubing is.

Had a quick look on Sheldon but will look again later.

    Closing in on this!

  • can anyone tell me what this frame (/bike) is? don't have a better pic...

  • Looking at it in more detail the BB is marked with size and 602375, a join on the lugs around the BB seems to have an extended W or M similar to the mark for the company in alien, and the strut between the seat stays for the rear brake (which is plenty cute - kind of a raised pagoda shape) has what could be 'SLV' 'SILV' or possibly 'SILVA' stamped into its underside. No obvious markings on the drops sadly.

    Seatpost is marked

        MAX LIMIT
          ITALY
SEL ? OF (letter obscured - presumably SELCOF)

           02 99 (presumably date)

         27 ... 2 (possibly obscured numbers, but I figure this is a standard 27.2)

So I assume a 1999 Rossin ... of unknown steel ;-p any takers for more info?

  • I picked this Courtois up in France last week (serial no 25874). There's very little information about Courtois on the interweb, any forumers know a bit more detail on them. The bike itself seems to have some nice kit on it, Stronglight cranks (52/45 tooth), Mafac centre-pull brakes, Simplex derailleurs and Campag hubs. Merci.

it's worth been ridden cause they are quality builds, maybe worth as a collectible
if it's in good shape etc.

post some photo and think twice if you like to sell it

  • Hi all

I managed to salvage this frame out of a geysers garage on the weekend. it is a track frame with no cable guides, no water bottle bolts, no hanger etc. It has no branding or impressions on the seat stays. anyone know what make it is?

    Thanks :)

  • ... You want us to know that from a description with no details and a small overall picture? Get some detail pictures up (brake bridge, seatcluster, BBcluster, lugs, forkcrown) and check the BB for serial nrs or engravings..

  • But free is free, so anyway a nice find..
