You'd guess so, not sure how this goes, but in a lot of European countries there's a tax ruling for foreigners (Spain, Netherlands and Italy off the top of my head). As a temporary (max 10 years IIRC) foreign worker in the Netherlands you'll pay maximum 30% income tax and here is some information on the situation in Spain, they called it the Beckham law. Real Madrid did an awesome deal by offering him a "tax-free" salary.
