Ordered a set of 36 hole rims from them a while back, first wheel was fine, second wheel I started lacing and realized something wasn't right, so I counted the holes. It was 32 hole.
I rang up, ordered a replacement. The replacement came today.
Invoice sheet says 36 hole, replacement rim is 32 hole, again.
Wow.
EDIT: They've sorted me out massively. Let me keep the wrong rims and have dispatched the right one to me!

you could try shops, where you can have immediate feedback on what you're buying before you pay for it!
-
• #304
You pay a huge premium for shops, so I suppose that's the tradeoff. Plus the internet gives you access to components up and down the country.

Actually, it's over here now.

Really sick of people getting orders wrong. My project is a month overdue simply because so many online bike shops have screwed up my orders. Wrong spoke lengths, wrong rims, wrong component.
So why single out P-X and why tell us and not them?

After a couple of phone calls they have just called me back and turned a huge frustration into an example of excellent customer service. I just got a call telling me I can keep the two 32 hole rims they sent me in error! And they're dispatching the rim I was meant to get originally. Thus they have changed my mind about them - now I'm sure I'll buy from them again in future.
So I'll take back my original rant.
hippy, just like to find out whether or not other people have had similar experiences so I know whether or not to buy this sort of thing from them in future.

Does anybody know if this bike is any good?
I am thinking of buying myself a road bike for the coming winter and was thinking around the £1K mark, hopefully convincing my boss to do the cycle to work scheme. -

IIRC Cycle to work tends to only work through shops, like Evans or Halfords
-

They're cracking bikes, 1/2 wish I'd got one of them instead of the Synapse.
and from bottom of page;
"Please note that any of our bikes may be purchased on a Cycle to Work scheme, saving you money and reducing your tax bill in the process"

How do I go about convincing my boss to do the cycle shceme thingie. I have only been at this new company for 6 weeks now.
I do like the look of that Planet X though. Especially in white. I think I will be hard pushed finding a better bike < £1K

does anyone know if it's possible to convert Planet X Pro carbon wheelsets to be compatible with Campagnolo?

Planet X Uncle John SRAM Rival Bike £900.
Pretty good deal. The new frame looks a lot better imo, plus it looks like they've now got disc brake cable guides which is good for the long term. The only silly thing is it looks like they've taken of the braze on for the rear canti guide.
-
• #321
probably they are screw on, so you can remove them if you are not going to need them
-
• #322
Yeah I think the bosses are, but I meant the holder thing so you don't need that little hanger off the seat clamp.
I know it's not the end of the world, it's just nice to have all the braze on's you need on the frame rather than faffing about with hangers.
-
• #323
I like it. Looks cleaner without unused braze-ons, if you're running disc's. The cable routing can get a bit messy for canti users though.
-
• #324
True.
I think any new cross frame needs disc capability. I'm sure in two years time there will be a whole load of disc specific cx stuff.

In case anyone's interested - I emailed PX re: using their wheels with campag and it's a simple freehub swap - which you can buy from the website..
... then I looked at a few tubular installation/maintenance videos and thought fuuuuuccccckkkk that.
4 days to glue a tyre to a rim? What? Even if it feels like riding on 1,000 tiny fluffy bunnies who are massaging you at all the contact points, who has time to spend that much time gluing tyres - and what happens when you use your one spare tub out on a ride?
Anyway - apparently they'll have carbon clinchers in stock in 6-8 weeks (fingers crossed without the logos!)
Oh and their customer service was amazing - I emailed at 7pm on a Friday night and got a reply within the hour - and then another on Saturday after asking about the clinchers. Top notch
They seem to have an issue with the difference between 1 and 2.
I ordered 1 X pair of riser handlebars, and received 2 X pairs of riser handlebars.
They billed me for two pairs- so their systems get that bit right.
