• I use a 3/32 ring with 1/8 chain and sprocket. It's fine. And ensures a ready supply of cheap chainrings.

    Ok, I would have liked to stick to a wider ring but I'll follow your advice. Complication is the bike has an external BB (Hope too) so I need Hollowtech/2pc cranks, trying to pick up a cheapy one on ebay as we speak
