in the states and aus, called a dog-box (straight cut gears, usually without synchros)
"Sometimes a confusing thing is when people mention dogboxes when merely refering to a dogleg first type selctor pattern. An actual dogbox is referring to the type of engagemnt between the gear.
You can see the "dogs" on each of these gears, they are the small raised bits....castlated if you like. These engage into a number of cutouts on a counterpart.
