  • I thought we accused you of being patronising, rather than sexist!

I recall the accusation was patronising and possibly a little inbred.

Great poster by the way, if I had ridden it this year I would definitely be buying one as a souveneir. It would look great in a living room, hallway, kitchen or in your office. I would be tempted to buy two so that my mother could have one on display in the breakfast room.

  • I didn't make it!
    who did?

  • featuring a specially-commissioned artwork by award-winning illustrator Henry Obasi, based on his cover design for the 2011 UHC programme.

    ^

  • ah, thanks. I stopped reading when I graduated from uni.

  • whose hands, hair and tummy?

  • tries to recall names of those that work at speakmedia

  • Looks like Paul.

oh my, I really do... those bars really ARE narrow!

  • If you did the Urban Hill Climb this year on a fixed-gear bike, what gear did you use?
And was the gear too big?
I think I read somewhere that someone used 44x19.

    Jobs.

  • last year I did it on 44x16, flat pedals, no clips/straps... not advised.

i made it but only made it because the crowd was yelling things like "don't you dare get off that fucking bike!".

made it but it killed me.

  • How quickly do you want to get to the top? It's beatable on pretty much anything you're likely to be running and gear choice is a personal thing. On the day, I did it geared (39x16/17/19) and was 'comfortable'. On the Norths Death TT I did it fixed on 50x16 and was definitely not comfortable. Still got there.
(and not slowly either, the latter was a flying start so not directly comparable but still would have placed well acceptably in the climb proper)

  • got my limited edition souvenir poster last week.. my girls read my name ahead of all the competitors and think i am a hero.. my missus even said i could put poster on the wall in the kitchen..

    result xx

  • My gearing was somewhere near 47-17 and I made it but only just.

  • 44 17 (70?GI)

    was so easy.

I lie, I could taste blood when I reached the top.

  • 19th July 2012

  • Same format?
Or more head to head races?

  • Bunch sprint, ftw

  • hoping to double capacity this year.

  • Shotgun downhill starting position.

  • Always a good night this one
