here's some garmin goodness (aside from the long straight line across chatham, where i forgot to turn it back on)

That thing looked pretty useful, I am considering a purchase.
But I dont have a clue about how they work. I've tried programming in a route on Ovi Maps for my mobile phone - a ridiculous amount of time for a small job, you have to type in the check points along the way, rather than just click along a map, Nokia's applications are shit, no wonder people are deserting them in droves.

How much was your Garmin, does it come with some sort of handlebar mount?
Do you need to pay some sort of subscrption, or once you buy it, thats it?
Can you pick your points on a map on a PC and then upload it to the device? Is it easy?
