  • paying what they should.

Sorry, but what does that actually mean?

the rich and corporations pay fortunes

    To who?

...and what do those people do with the money?

  • Third generation? Fuck off. You're British. And your grandmother's sixteenth birthday has fuck all to do with you.

    Your class: middle-class wanker!

    Now do me!

I'm not sure that forruns are allowed a class- maybe you can borrow one, and then give it back at the airport when you go back where you came from?

But, I would think that if we were to cut you in half you would have "white middle class" written through your middle.

If you had a job it would be defined as white collar in Canada I would think- if you were to be in academia that is.

  • are they sitting on your lap?

You're so fucking detached, you know nothing. This is real. This is not some people from the telly.
You think it will just fizzle out and you will be back on your fucking little bike riding around in sunshine while spreading your ill-concieved pseudo-revolutionary pseudo-socialst preachings? These people don't care about you and your ideology. They will hustle as usual. Just being bit more bold knowing, that the law can do fuck all.

    good old England

  • You know nothing. That's the bottom line.

I actually sit here with people who went looting and they think you're just a bunch of weak posh liberal pussies and there's nothing you can do about it. And that's why they will never stop. And posh for them is everyone who doesn't live the road ting.
They don't work, they don't want education, they have no high ambitions - they just want to chillax with the Black Ops and live life of a Premeirship footballer without being one, with no sweat. This is a complex thing - partially given to them by media, entertainment industry, cultural things, racial discrimination.
Frankly, it's you who are detached from reality. This is how it looks to me, judging from what I hear.
It will be very hard to succeed with an outreach program. Of course there are underprivileged people who only need a guidance, good infrastructure and some help to get qualification etc., but many will **see your kindness as a weakness **(this is just a gang mentality).

+1 [and i am prolly a posh liberal pussy by estate standards]

  • Tax avoidance vs tax evasion.

Everyone will always avoid tax when they can, and if they can't they will bitch about others doing it... until they can.

    I don't.

I'm quite happy to pay, hell I even registered Buro 9 and started the company to pay tax, so that it was all above board contributing back.

But then, I spent a few years in Sweden and my view on taxation and society is that you get what you give, or rather, you get what you pay for (in taxes, time and investment into people).

I'm actually happy to pay. I don't necessarily agree with how it's spent or the policies, but hey... they're the elected representatives and if this is what the people want then I'm happy to make my contribution.

Of course, that raises wider political questions about whether this is what the people want, but that's irrelevant to my belief that if you want a decent society that cares and protects, then you need to pay for it.

Oh, they call me "that posh forrun". Cunts.

That's why they always knock my door to borrow a bottle merlot till Monday.

  • I'm 1st generation (from a portuguese family) and also see myself as british.

  • what like legally tying up all assets in offshore tax havens?
    lol Hippy

Hey, I knew a fitter and turner working in a hospital here who used off-shoring to save tax so don't live in a fantasty that avoiding tax is a rich guy-only issue.

  • I'm from essex but I still see myself as being english.

  • I'm from essex but I still see myself as being english.

Hatbeard, I have some bad news for you

  • Ah that lovely euphemism - Tax efficient. There are tax laws in this country, the rich and corporations pay fortunes to avoid (and in some cases evade) paying what they should. It's actually approved of too in elevated circles, hence Philip Green's knighthood.

So? Builders take cash jobs to avoid paying tax. Everyone does it. Again, to have a whinge at the rich for doing it is bullshit.

  • I'm Mancunian and I see myself as a Manc

You're are an embarrassment to England with your orange tan and that Ed Hardy t-shirt, HateBroad.

So true, pretty much everyone in the UK is hustling somewhere, somehow. Rich, poor and everyone inbetween.

  • Everyone is petty hustling?
    REALLY?

  • qwe

  • have enough left over cash after the divorce to buy an Mx5/boxterS > pick up life again, make largest wage of your life > retire > die

The future is not orange, it's bright...

  • Everyone is petty hustling?
    REALLY?

    I am.

  • So? Builders take cash jobs to avoid paying tax. Everyone does it. Again, to have a whinge at the rich for doing it is bullshit.

Given the likely amounts involved then it's probably fair. But it just shows the skewed mentality in this country as regards contribution to society. Law abiding types who work on PAYE are viewed as mugs, and it's wrong.

  • Doing what?

  • More importantly, the football thread is locked.

  • "Pure Criminality" reminds me of "True Racing"

Yup, white collar were I to have a job. But it's a bit simpler in Canada. There is white and blue collar in terms of "class" (as it would be understood here) and then lower/middle/upper just refers to your salary. So it's possible to have an upper-class blue collar worker (someone who owns a junk yard, let's say).

I'm from essex but I still see myself as being english.

    cringe

"If the poor can do it, so can we!"

  • Tax avoidance..........opportunistic. The free market structure encourages it.

Government minister expenses claims....opportunistic. The free market structure encourages it.

Bankers paying themselves ridiculous bonuses in the midst of a complete fuck up.......opportunistic. The free market structure encourages it.

Looters taking advantage of police limitations and technology.......opportunistic.....kill them all, lock them up, throw away the key. Immoral scum bastards.

I distinctly remember people baying for banker blood a couple of years ago (and still probably to this day). No difference.. except maybe the bankers didn't set fire to any cars?
