  • I just rode from Streatham, through Brixton, down Coldharbour Lane, through Camberwell, to home.

There is nothing going on. All quiet. No gangs. No groups of people hanging around. No looting. No rioting. Shops closed early, thats all. People are panicking over nothing.

I look forward to seeing evidence of those "CID confirmed" reports of Rowhan's 200 youths heading from Wandsworth to Putney.
If a CID officer said it, it must be true, right?
Cops would never make something up.

  • Heh, our ISP is blaming the looting for an outage

    Start Date/ Time: 13:25
    Duration: 3hrs 25minutes
    Service Affected: IP Connectivity
    Priority: 1
Location: Interxion Data Centre London/Level3 Data Centre Braham Street

Incident Details We are currently experiencing an issue affecting a link between these two data centres used to transport internet traffic.

Update Summary: Due to unprecedented internet usage as a result of the recent events in London and surrounding areas, there are currently capacity issues affecting some of Adapt’s network links. Engineers are working to mitigate the impact of this, but in the meantime, please limit the use of high bandwidth applications (e.g. streaming video) wherever possible.

Get off the forum yo :)

I heard the pound shop in Camberwell had been torched... Thank fuck that isn't true, love that place...

  • Feel free to ignore or consider as "allegedly". BUT, my employer is pretty extreme on security in general, (we sell some of the priciest stuff around) so their info is worth considering.

Those are just roads still closed off from yesterday. Nothing new in there really.

  • Oh, and they sent this one too. Probably doesn't affect cyclists?

    =======

    Reported road closures:
Ilford - the High Road is closed around Green Lane.
Bromley - Bromley High Street is closed now with reported rioting.
Bethnal Green - Bethnal Green Road is closed between Cambridge Heath Road and Vallance Road.
Stepney Green - Globe Road is closed at Mile End Road
Beckton - Royal Docks Road is closed at the Gallions Reach Shopping Park
Enfield - the north side of the one-way system is still closed for investigation work. 10 bus routes are being diverted.
Tottenham - the High Road is closed between Lansdowne Road and Monument Way, and there are also closures still on Lordship Lane and Bruce Grove.
Walworth - Walworth Road is closed at East Street

  • 1634:
A Hackney local tells BBC 5 Live: "When you've got bankers taking their bonuses and MP's taking money off people like me for their moats, and their chateaus and their castles, this is the result."

    ?

  • on bike??

Yes, on a bicycle. With numerous other cyclists on the roads too. All fine.

    Which pound shop?

  • "Make the most of the sun you have" sorry for quoting the weather, but that's just class.

  • ?

Create an underclass, you get riots. Nothing new in that.

  • Sky news is showing this images of Riot Police gearing up for tonight's prevention.
Won't that just incite a bit more these already fragile minds of the 'Youth'?... just thinking..
Won't they feel even more worked up after watching that"?

    Maybe not..

  • more of this please

  • Quick thought - would it make sense to provide a list of safe havens tonight in a separate thread? If anyone get's caught out and needs a safe haven in highbury later, PM me.

I also rode to Streatham (with Shinigami HI TIBBS!) from Waterloo (no fire). Quiet. Boarded up shops. bit weird but quiet.

  • How bad is Walworth Road, anybody? I have a very important meeting to attend to tomorrow on Walworth Road. I hope things get cleared by the morning.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if absolutely nothing happens tonight. Everything I've seen so far is purely precautionary, including the spotters on the roof of IKEA.

  • Seriously tho - if ya gonna go looting - why not head to Knightsbridge ! not Croydon ! and Hackney ! and Streatham !

    Typical !

  • It's true, cyclists can ride through riots unaffected.

Erm, no. If the road is closed, avoid it. Easy enough right?
