Bring in the army. The worst suggestion I've ever heard. Once that's happened, and become normalised, it will become the norm for any protest which could get a bit out of hand.*
Protesting against a war? Bring in the army.
Protesting against cuts? Bring in the army.
*the current disturbances are not protests.
