  • Sikhs in Southall doing the "Turkish Thing". Good for them.

  • Here's my collection of images: http://thehippy.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=278

I was in the pub earlier so didn't get any of the initial action. That smashed up cop car still had its engine running when I took the pics!

  • Bring it on!

    picks up torque wrench

Fuck 'em up, set it on 20Nm.

  • According to Twitter most African-Americans believe that riots started because an innocent Black father of four who was a cab driver was slayed by White policemen. Almost there, but not really.

  • Fuck 'em up, set it on 20Nm.

That's a bit excessive don't you think? Sheesh.. 18Nm should be fine.

  • That's a bit excessive don't you think? Sheesh.. 18Nm should be fine.

Actually, yeah, got carried away, you just want to fuck 'em up, not kill them, so 16-18Nm.

  • Had a hairy ride home tonight, at 2.51; http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/8687177/London-riots-live.html

    Bit more here; http://twitter.com/#!/Sparkes

Felt in genuine danger at points, and there was a real sense that the police weren't coping and couldn't help if you were to get in trouble. Screw all these idiots.

  • I'm trying to follow #hackney on twitter and all I'm getting is retweets of that video of the woman giving the looters a hard time. It's a great vid, but 4 retweets a minute?

  • I've just spent an hour or so reading this thread and I'm so glad to hear that everyone made it though the night. Especially nuknow as it sounded like it was very hairy at not one, but several times through the night. Im shocked at what's happened and really hope that tonight we don't see a repeat of the terrible scenes across London and the UK. It's mindless and it's ruining people's lives. I'm not living in the UK at the moment but have lived in London and it saddens me to see the city I love going through this. Images like this tear me apart

People's livelihoods are being ruined because of idiots who've got nothing better to do than destroy their own communities. It's about time people took back their communities and politicians stopped blabbering bollocks and hiding behind numbers and statistics. they are so out of touch with what is happening it's not funny anymore. They need to spend more time in their constituencies and less time arguing with each other waving bloody papers in the air. It's time for some real changes and answer some hard questions about what is happening up and down the country. Disillusioned youth (who happen to be the future of the country) no jobs, generations of families who haven't worked, stopping or reducing budgets for community projects, I could go on and on and on but I think I need to stop before I go off on a massive rant. I just hope it doesn't spread across Europe and elsewhere. Stay safe everyone and stay strong.

which vid if i may ask? please

  • She's the voice of reason.

  • I totally agree, but every single person in Hackney with a Twitter account appears to be retweeting it.

  • Damn the image I posted was too big and the caption is missing

You can see that and other excellent images from the riots on the big picture

  • This dude is complaining about a violation of Grauniad's editorial policy on ethnicity:

    Necessary?? @Guardian singles out #Hackney #Jews for 'watching' #Londonriots http://bit.ly/p7xMrn sorry #BigFail on reporting via @CiFWatch*

  • Just walked the wife down to Lewisham High Street to catch her bus. Everything transport wise is running normal in the area.

Looks like police kept everything away from the shopping centre they had a pitched battle with the cops and torched those cars on Union Way and then retreated back to Lee High Road and smashed most shop windows not grilled all the way up to Lee Green.

    Part of my walk home...

  • does anyone know what the community support officers (plastic police) were up to last night?

didn't see any around Hackney, I'm wondering if they were told to stay home? or did they just feel like having a night off?
mind you, today is the day they can really win place in Londoner's hearts.

  • Talking on the news about a curfew for tonight

  • curfews need to be backed up with force. Teresa May just ruled out the army and even used the words '.....we must put an end to this SOON' How about real fucking soon? like now. Time to go on the offensive.

  • I can't believe she was asking people to report anyone involved... Ha!

  • I'm split on the use of a curfew. In many ways the fact that ordinary law abiding citizens have been slowly withdrawing from the streets over the last 20 years is part of the problem of handing them over to this scum. But it is time that heads rolled out there and any innocent bystanders getting caught up will have nobody to blame. looks like we've really got ourselves into a mess.

  • But it is time that heads rolled out there and any innocent bystanders getting caught up will have nobody to blame.

I hope in time you will recognise that this is a mindlessly stupid thing to say.

  • That's a bit excessive don't you think? Sheesh.. 18Nm should be fine.
can break carbon based life forms

  • I can't get why the England game has not been called off yet, can the met justify having that many police officers on crowd control?
