Fuck it, the deep seated reasons behind this can be debated to the nth degree at any time. This just needs to be stopped NOW! People's lively hoods and homes are being razed to the ground by their own communities.

The PSNI have this for 14 or so nights every summer and are very capable of nipping it in the bud. It's all very well chastising oiks who paints bomb H&M on Oxford Street but the Met are not equipped to deal with wide spread, non directional violence. The only answer is to hit it hard. (not actually kill anyone of course!) Water cannons, dogs, baton rounds, make it clear that if you are in this area you are part of the riot and force will be used to disperse rioters. They'll soon get the fucking message.

You say that, but when they then start turning this shit on peaceful protests...? They'd be harangued for excessive force, they can't please everyone. The association between these riots and protests, like calling them 'protesters', shows the link is already being made.
