bivvies + tarp seemed like a good combo (especially with the bicycle as poles).

I wouldn't really want my bike like that. If you were sharing it'd be a piece of cake to share a tarp and poles.

Does anyone have a cheapo 2-man tent they want to sell? I'm off to Devon in a couple of weeks (just for the weekend) but don't really fancy buying something new and cheap just to leave it in the cupboard after the weekend. The bigger plan is to camp around Europe next year and I'd like to buy something better for the purpose - I'm just not in the position to be dropping that kind of cashish just yet. Thoughts?
And sorry for the slight hi-jack. :s

I'm guessing you mean the sleeping pad? ^^^that links to the main website.
Just been reading some reviews of the full length one....now want one! :]

yeah yeah, I lyed down on one in the middle of the show, really amazing product experience, and it packs up really small/light.

From the reviews too it looks spot on.
My current down filled air mat is super comfy and warm, packs reasonably small, but is still about 3 times the weight of that...and probably about a third bigger pack size.
I'm actually surprised it's not too bad a price either. -

It's now on my list anyway. ;]

They look fantastic. Would love to see one in the flesh. Guess I'll have to go to Utah.

What are you thinking of?
My Laser by the way, from a few pages back, held up admirably under some pretty fierce Pyrenees storms.

I liked the look of that, got a nice usable porch, was it comfty? as in enough room to feel like you can stretch out nicely?

I know which one, that damn expensive one that make a bivvy weight as much as a BMW Gangsta.

Ed, actually I was really impressed with the amount of space inside. I will admit however to being an idiot and not putting it up correctly for the first week which made it sag inside. I knew I was doing something wrong, I just couldn't figure it out, when I did it was like being in a new tent. I'm quite tall with long arms and could comfortably stretch around in there. The only downside from the comfort perspective was not bringing a pillow - I just used a rolled up towel which I use/hate every time and always tell myself I'll change one of these days but never do.
Scott, go do some work on that backpack.

He runs along side.

I had one of those, every night, I turn it inside out, filled the interior with tent bag/jacket/towel, etc. and slept reasonably well;

I will do indeed!
