Quebec to Norway I think, my dad may have exaggerated the time (or I might have... Probably we both did) basically he got a lift on a tanker, they usually have a room or two that they rent as long as you don't mind eating shit food with the crew and having very little to do for a long time.

Yeah, I've looked into it as well. From Montreal (Quebec) and NYC. What I discovered was usually around a week. I thought 2 months may have been from Seattle, around the Americas, and then over to Europe :)
Anyway, in my searches prices work out to be slightly more expensive than flying. But, when you consider you have room and board for all those days, it's not such a bad deal (if you don't mind being in the middle of the Atlantic for a few days).
